Democrats pick Frank for council race

The Harford County Democratic Central Committee has nominated Aberdeen resident Ruth B. Frank to run against Republican Robert S. Wagner in the District E County Council race.

Mr. Wagner, 36, who is running for re-election, was the only candidate to file for the District E seat by the July 5 deadline. However, the central committees of both parties have until Wednesday to nominate candidates in races that would otherwise be uncontested in the Nov. 8 general election.

The Democratic committee met yesterday and voted 6-0 to make Ms. Frank a candidate.

Ms. Frank, a native of Lewistown, Pa., has lived in Harford County more than 30 yearsand has worked for the city of Aberdeen for 12 years, first as clerk of planning and zoning and currently as assistant to City Manager Peter Dacey.

She was elected to the county's Democratic Central Committee in 1990 and did not file for re-election this year.

Ms. Frank, 57, says she decided to run for the seat because "the council needs better representation from Aberdeen and the Route 40 corridor." District E stretches from Forest Hill east through Prospect Mill, Churchville and Aberdeen.
