A 17-year-old Old Mill High School student told county police he was assaulted Wednesday by a group of men as he walked through the Heritage Hill community.

Kevin Deon Smith of Hickory Lane in Glen Burnie told police he was walking near the 300 block of Congressional Court shortly after 2:30 a.m. when a stranger came up to him and punched him in the mouth, police said.

The man and several others then demanded money, and the youth ran to the back of a nearby house and banged on the door for help, police said.

When the man in the house called police, the youth's assailants fled, police said.
