Teen Club plans picnic Aug. 11 in Milford Mill


The Gambrills Teen Club will hold its eighth annual picnic in Milford Mill in Baltimore County on Aug. 11.

Members will leave from the Gambrills Athletic Club at 11:30 a.m. and return to the club at about 7:30 p.m.

The cost of the picnic is $10, which will cover admission to the park. The club will provide free hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies and soda. (They'll eat at least twice!!)

Any club member who has collected 50 percent of his or her participation points will have the admission cost reimbursed at Milford Mill.

To participate, you must sign a waiver form and a transportation form.

Guests are welcomed. In the event of rain, the picnic will be held on Aug. 12.

Webelos Den 1, Cub Scout Pack 663 recently completed a two-day day camp at the home of Cubmaster Linda Fonteneau.

The scouts spent the time working toward badges and a summer fun pin. They enjoyed songs, games, water activities and a field trip to the Discovery Zone.

The theme of the day-camp was Indian folk lore and crafts, which included beaded breastplates, tom-toms and papier-mache masks.

Scoutmaster Roy Kregelka of Troop 446 showed the scouts how to bake in a cardboard box oven.

The campers were: Kellen Alexander, David Campbell, Jeffrey Fonteneau, Brian LaAsmar, George Norris, James St. Hilaire and Bobby Yeager.

Summer activities include a luau and car wash in August.

Pack 663 is sponsored by American Legion Post 276 and meets at the post home on Quarterfieid Road in Severn.

Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church will be having its Adult Fellowship Picnic/Swim Party from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on July 23.

The party will be at the home of Robert and Vicki Meck. Directions will be provided.

Polish sausage, hot dogs, hamburgers, rolls and condiments will be served. Party-goers should bring a salad, vegetable, or a dessert to share. A sign-up chart will be posted in the church narthex.

Bring bathing suits and towels for swimming and games and lawn chairs.

The church will supply hot dogs, hamburgers, rolls, condiments, drinks and homemade ice cream. Picnickers are asked to bring a salad, vegetable or dessert to feed 12 people.

The picnic, which will start at 12:30 p.m., is being held on church grounds. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket to sit on. Games for all ages are being planned.

Organizers want to get a head count, so please sign up or call the church office at 674-2272 by July 31.
