23 seek seats on central committees CAMPAIGN 1994

Fourteen Democrats are running for eight seats on the Carroll County Central Committee, and nine Republicans are running for seven seats on the county Republican Central Committee.

Central committee members are elected to four-year terms.

The Democratic candidates are:

* Russell W. Allen, 58, of Eldersburg.

* Dennis E. Beard, 48, of Sykesville.

* Philip S. Benzil, 60, of Westminster -- incumbent.

* Corynne B. Courpas, 39, of Westminster -- incumbent.

* Cynthia Huggins Cummings, 52, of Silver Run -- incumbent. She also is running for a District 5 Senate race.

* Damian L. Halstad, 32, of Westminster -- incumbent.

* Eric R. Hirtle, 27, of Westminster. He also is running for a District 5 delegate seat.

* Jeffrey D. Kirkwood, 35, of Westminster.

* James E. Kraft, 51, of Finksburg.

* Scott Markle, 32, of Westminster.

* Phillip R. Miller, 56, of Manchester -- incumbent.

* L. Gregory Pecoraro, 35, of Westminster -- current chairman.

* Michael G. Steininger, 33, of Finksburg.

* Maxine C. Wooleyhand, 51, of Sykesville.

The Republican candidates are:

* Carmen Amedori, 38, of Westminster.

* W. David Blair, 45, of Manchester. He also is running for a District 5 delegate seat.

* Thomas W. Bowen, 56, of Sykesville -- current chairman.

* John P. Buchheister Jr., 47, of Hampstead -- incumbent.

* Ragen L. Cherney, 28, of Finksburg.

* Michael J. Craig Sr., 35, of Taneytown.

* Griffith Manahan, 54, of Westminster.

* Robert Tabler, 58, of Sykesville.

* Robert M. Wolfing, 43, of Mount Airy.
