Uniontown resident Rachelle Feldman-Hurwitz, a Democratic candidate for the District 5 Senate seat, yesterday challenged her primary opponent to a debate.

Silver Run resident Cynthia Huggins Cummings was at an educational conference in New Orleans and could not be reached for comment.

Ms. Feldman-Hurwitz gave Ms. Cummings until Monday to respond to the challenge.

In the GOP, District 5 Sen. Larry E. Haines, a Westminster real estate agent, is running for a second term.
