They have something else in common: They are the only players to appear in all four of Denny's hologram baseball card sets. Will Clark had appeared in the first three sets.
Cards from the fourth set, again produced by Upper Deck, will be available with a qualifying purchase at participating restaurants through Aug. 31 or while supplies last. This set is also designed to help commemorate professional baseball's 125th anniversary.
In the past, the cards featured sluggers, especially grand slam hitters (the required purchases were "Grand Slam" menu items). This time there are also pitchers (Jim Abbott, Kevin Appier and Cal Eldred) and players not noted for their slugging (such as Ozzie Smith).
Upper Deck spokesman Reggie Jackson is featured on a card, but that's only available in an Aug. 31 drawing at each participating restaurant. Customers also can register to win the complete 28-card set.
