LANDOVER -- The Washington Capitals didn't have to look far for their eighth-round selection in the 1994 entry draft.

With the 197th overall choice, the Capitals took left wing Chris Patrick, son of team president Dick Patrick. Chris, 6 feet 5 and 200 pounds, attended Kent School in Connecticut and will go to Princeton this fall.

"He is a big player whose four years at Princeton will help him develop leg strength and improve his skating," Jack Button, the Capitals' director of player personnel, said in a statement.

Chris' great-grandfather, Lester, was a coach and general manager of the New York Rangers; his grandfather, Muzz, and grand-uncle, Lynn, played on the 1940 Stanley Cup champion Rangers; his uncle, Craig, played for the Capitals and is general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
