Annapolis police are encouraging those who come to the city's Fourth of July celebration to leave their cars at the Naval Academy stadium rather than risk a ticket or towing.

Parking at the stadium and a shuttle service to the downtown will be free.

From 5 p.m. until 10:30 p.m., traffic and parking in the city will be disrupted.

Parking will be prohibited at City Dock, on Main Street, St. Johns Street, Randall Street and Market Space.

It also will be prohibited on Cathedral Street between West and Franklin streets; on the east side of First, Second and Third streets between Severn and Chesapeake avenues; on both sides of Severn Avenue between First and Burnside streets; the north side of Chesapeake Avenue; and the first block of Bay Ridge Avenue south of Sixth Street.

Vehicular traffic into the north side of the Eastport peninsula will be restricted to residents between 5 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
