Man charged after chase at up to 80 mph

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A Sykesville man is charged with leading town police on an 80 mph chase along Howard County roads Tuesday night.

David S. Annable was arrested and charged with multiple traffic offenses.

Police Chief Wallace Mitchell said yesterday that a Sykesville police officer recognized a man whose driver's license had been revoked at the wheel of a 1986 black Ford Escort near the corner of Walnut and Springfield avenues.

The Escort fled and the officer pursued, Chief Mitchell said.

The 10-minute chase reached speeds exceeding 80 mph before the vehicle stopped on Underwood Road, just north of Route 99 in Howard County.

Mr. Annable was charged with fleeing and eluding a marked police cruiser as well as driving with a revoked license. He also was charged with three speeding violations and six counts of failing to obey stop signs.
