LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers yesterday cleared the stage for their fourth left-handed reliever this season, acquiring Brian Barnes from the Cleveland Indians and optioning Al Osuna back to the Triple-A Albuquerque Dukes.
Barnes follows the lead of Gary Wayne, Omar Daal and Osuna -- all of whom are now back at Albuquerque. In exchange for the 27-year-old Barnes, the Dodgers gave up Eddie Lantigua, who was hitting .230 in 53 games as the third baseman for the Single-A Bakersfield Dodgers.
Barnes was 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in six games for Cleveland.
Osuna was 2-0 in 15 games but blew his only save chance and had a team-worst 6.23 ERA.
