Woman is struck by car near her home, dies

THE BALTIMORE SUN

BALTIMORE -- A resident of the Chinquapin-Belvedere community was killed last night when she was struck by a car while attempting to cross East Northern Parkway near her home, city police said.

Officer Joseph Johnson of the city police traffic investigation section said Geraldine Richardson, 52, of the 800 block of Reverdy Road, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the 10 p.m. incident.

Damon Bracey, 21, of the first block of Comet Court, the driver of the 1990 Honda Accord that struck the woman, told Officer Johnson he saw the woman crossing in front of him and that he slowed down and entered the fast lane to avoid hitting her but was unable to do so.

Officer Johnson said it appeared pedestrian error had contributed to the woman's death and that no charges were placed against Mr. Bracey.
