Flintstones. Meet the Flintstones. They live in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

That's what it says in the Horry Telephone Cooperative and GTE phone books. They each have a listing for Dean O. Flintstone, living on Seaview Street in North Myrtle Beach.

"That's my real name," said the man who answered the phone, without even a "Yabba-Dabba-Do."

After a few pointed questions about Bedrock, he broke down and confessed. "It's a joke," he said.

His real name is Dean Oscar Colaiacovo. He's 32, single, a computer programmer and a Florida native. He got the nickname "Dino" while at the University of West Florida. He moved to Horry County in January 1992 and decided to give a phony name for the phone book listing.

"I was looking through the phone book one time and saw Daffy Duck, so I knew it could be done," Mr. Colaiacovo said, somewhat proud of his ruse.

The woman who took his name over the phone did not question Mr. Colaiacovo about his name, he said. "I told her, 'I'm Dean Oscar Flintstone,' so I knew it would come out as 'Dean O.' I don't think she realized what I was doing."

He is not listed under his real name, so he tells friends to remember it's under Flintstone.

"My buddies will call information looking for the phone number, and they'll get some strange reactions from the operator," Mr. Colaiacovo said. "They're surprised when they find it."
