Annapolis mayor delays budget vote for more comment

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Annapolis Mayor Alfred A. Hopkins has decided to postpone the vote on the city's 1995 operating budget for a week to give residents more time to comment.

Mr. Hopkins said he decided yesterday to delay the vote until June 20 after several residents complained that they wanted more time to review the document.

The budget recommendations of the City Council's finance committee were made available Friday. A public hearing on the spending plan was held Monday night.

A council vote was to have taken place Monday. Instead, the council will accept more testimony on that day at a hearing starting at 6 p.m.

"I don't want anyone to say they didn't get an opportunity to address the government," the mayor said.
