Edward H. Flower

Retired supervisor

Edward H. Flower, a retired supervisor in the damaged-freight office of what was then the Chessie System, died Sunday of cancer at Mercy Medical Center. He was 78 and had lived in Glen Burnie for 40 years.

He retired in 1979 after 30 years of service, mostly with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.

Born in Baltimore as Edward H. Kwiatkowski, he changed his name.

He served in the Army in the Pacific during World War II.

He was a deacon at Brooklyn Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3533 Fourth St., where services were to be held at 11 a.m. today.

He is survived by his wife, the former Florence M. Ward; two daughters, Sharon F. Currie and Jean Dawson, both of Pasadena; two sons, David Flower of Pasadena and Daniel Flower of Upper Fairmount and the lower Eastern Shore; two brothers, Stanley Kwiatkowski and Joseph Kwiatkowski, both of Baltimore; and four grandchildren.
