A free bicycle rodeo for children in the Hawthorne area will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Hawthorne Elementary School, 125 Kingston Road.

Conducted by the Essex Precinct of the county Police Department, the event will stress bicycle safety.

To participate, children should register through the school and bring their bicycles. Children from kindergarten through third grade must be accompanied by parents and attend the early session, from 9 a.m. to noon. Older youngsters may attend from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
