Finksburg youth, 17, escapes injury when his car overturns

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A 17-year-old Finksburg youth was uninjured when his car struck an embankment and overturned Friday while he was driving to Westminster High School.

Erick E. Repp of the 700 block of Ridge Road was wearing his safety belt when the accident happened at 7:40 a.m., police said.

The high school junior told officers he was driving his 1989 Ford Escort west on Carrollton Road when another vehicle pulled out from Dutrow Road in front of him. To avoid striking the car, which stopped on Carrollton Road, the youth said he swerved his car to the left. It then crossed the center line of the road, struck the embankment and rolled over.

The car slid about 120 feet on its roof, struck a guardrail and slid another 40 feet, state police said.

The two vehicles did not collide.

No charges were filed against either driver, police said.
