His senior year he played three sports and was All-County first team in soccer as the team he co-captained last fall won a regional title. The year before it had won the school's first state soccer title.
His lacrosse team, on which he played midfield, this spring won its first county championship since 1985.
Chris Schaefer of Glenelg is the Baltimore Sun's Howard County Scholar-Athlete for 1993-1994.
Schaefer won other soccer honors, including being chosen his team's MVP and second-team All-State. And he was recruited to play soccer at Salisbury State next fall.
"Chris is a superb athlete, a highly skilled and intelligent soccer player, and most importantly, a mature, considerate and responsible person," said soccer coach John Bouman.
Schaefer co-captained the indoor track team and ran on three relays, finishing second in the county in the 3,200-meter relay, fifth in the county 1,600 relay and and fourth in the county 800 relay his senior year. He earned eight varsity letters.

Bobby met his goal of becoming a major force in state distance running. He ranks as one of the hardest-working athletes that I have ever coached, and has become an individual that younger runners will try to emulate."
