Five arrests made at sobriety checkpoint

State police made five arrests at a sobriety checkpoint along Route 140 last weekend.

Police set up the checkpoint at 10:50 p.m. Friday on westbound Route 140 at Old Baltimore Road in Westminster.

About 780 cars were checked before the checkpoint was discontinued at 1:40 a.m. Saturday.

Police asked 11 drivers to perform sobriety tests. Four drivers were arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. A fifth person was arrested on an outstanding warrant, police said.
