White Sox update White Sox statistics

The White Sox have won five in a row and eight of their past nine games. They are coming off a 12-1 win over Minnesota, a win in which reigning American League Most Valuable Player Frank Thomas hit two home runs and drove in five runs. Thomas, whose 17 home runs are second only to Seattle's Ken Griffey, is hitting .474 with 30 runs in the past 16 games. He ranks in the league's top 10 in 11 offensive categories. The White Sox have scored 68 more runs than the Orioles in the same number of games. They lead the league with a .294 batting average and have an AL-best 3.85 ERA. Designated hitter Julio Franco is hitting .302 with 10 home runs and 49 RBIs. Right fielder Darrin Jackson, another free-agent bargain, is batting .336 with six home runs and 24 RBIs.
