Burst sprinkler damages Hampstead townhouse

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Firefighters from Hampstead and Arcadia, in Baltimore County, responded to a water emergency in a townhouse in the 4800 block of Hillock Lane, in the Roberts Field community of Hampstead, at 6 p.m. Saturday.

A sprinkler pipe in the attic had split and the water pressure created a hole in the ceiling of a bedroom.

The residents were not at home at the time and the incident was discovered by a neighbor.

Units were out for 35 minutes.

A similar incident had occurred in the same block at 6:34 p.m. Thursday.

That incident resulted in extensive damage to another townhouse, fire officials said.

Fire and county officials are investigating to determine the cause of the water line breaks.
