THE BALTIMORE SUN

Riverside Park woman who was grabbed from behind by a man as she walked near Chesapeake Middle School Sunday evening fended off her attacker by spraying him with pepper mace, county police said.

Janet Chriscelina Jones, 19, was slightly injured when the man pushed her into a brick wall, police said. She was walking around the side of the school near the ball fields shortly after 6 p.m. when she was grabbed, police said.

Ms. Jones told police that she was carrying the spray canister in her hand and fled immediately after spraying her assailant. She went to her car, which was parked near some tennis courts close by, police said.

She did not get a look at the suspect's face, police said. County officers checked the area but could not find the man, police said.
