Buzzuto & Associates has received the Pillars of the Industry Award for Environmental Planning and Preservation from the National Council of the Multifamily Housing Industry & and Registered Apartment Managers Program.

Buzzuto was honored for tree preservation and land planning at Beacon Place at Kentlands, a 240-unit luxury apartment community in Gaithersburg, Montgomery County.

C. E. Wheeler Custom Builders of Upperco has been selected to participate in the Southern Living Custom Home Program, which gives it exclusive rights to a collection of house plans designed by Atlanta residential designer Stephen Fuller. Ed Wheeler is president of the firm, which will construct one of the Southern Living homes this year.

Comanco Inc. of Crofton has been named an Accredited Association Management Company by Community Association Institute, a nonprofit group that represents condominium and homeowner associations. Comanco manages more than 100 condominium and homeowner associations in Maryland and Virginia.

Duron Paints & Wallcoverings outlets in Maryland and Virginia recently donated or provided at cost enough paint and other products to enable "Christmas in April" volunteers to repaint approximately 300 homes April 30. Headquartered in Beltsville, Duron operates 165 stores from Pennsylvania to Florida.

GMAC Mortgage, headquartered in Elkins Park, Pa., recently opened an office at 650 Ritchie Highway, Suite 306, Severna Park, where Richard P. Cermak will be the manager.
