* Secretary of the Navy James V. Forrestal will deliver the graduation address to 914 midshipmen at exercises shortly before they are commissioned as ensigns in the U.S. Navy. -- The Sun, June 3, 1944.

* Capt. Leonard T. Schroeder Jr., of North Linthicum, may have been the first Allied soldier to land in France from a boat during the Normandy Invasion, a dispatch from the front stated yesterday. Captain Schroeder, 25, attended Glen Burnie High School and graduated from the University of Maryland. -- The Sun, June 8, 1944.
