DENVER -- Colorado Rockies outfielder Ellis Burks will be sidelined four to six weeks with a sprained left wrist, the club announced yesterday.
The Rockies placed him on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Wednesday, and purchased the contract of outfielder Chris Jones from Triple-A.
Burks, 29, batting .354 with 12 home runs and 22 RBIs, suffered the wrist injury while attempting to check his swing Tuesday night.
He did not play Wednesday night, underwent an arthrogram yesterday and will be examined by hand specialist Dr. Frank Scott today.
Burks, 29, signed as a free agent last winter, was NL Player of the Month in April.
