Wide receiver Art Monk, whose 14-year career with the Washington Redskins ended last month when he turned down a $600,000 contract offer, had a workout with the New York Jets yesterday.
The Jets, who also plan to bring in the New England Patriots' Michael Timpson, said they're seriously interested in Monk, and were impressed that he was in good shape.
Monk, 36, who made $1.15 million last year plus incentives from the Redskins, would have to accept a pay cut to sign with the Jets. They're hoping to sign a veteran receiver for about $500,000.
