Government troops pressed their campaign in northern Bosnia, apparently seeking to gain control of a key Serb communications post. Heavy fighting was reported around TUZLA.

The European Union endorsed the latest Bosnia peace plan adopted by the United States, Russia, and some EU members. The plan would give Bosnian Serbs who control 70 percent of Bosnia 49 percent of the country. A new Croat-Muslim federation would get 51 percent.

Russia's special envoy Vitaly Churkin met Serbia's President Slobodan Milosevic in BELGRADE and said urgent implementation of the Geneva agreement was a priority.
