Steve Tomshack, North County

Baseball

Tomshack, a junior infielder, went 7-for-14 with 10 RBIs, including tying a county and state record with three homers in a 24-3 romp over Meade as the No. 15 Knights (13-7) clinched its first baseball playoff berth in its four-year history. Tomshack had seven RBIs in the Meade game and a total of 10 with four homers in three wins that put North County in the postseason.

Top female

Erika Lee, South River

Girls lacrosse

Lee scored seven goals and had two assists in a pair of Seahawks victories that clinched the top seed in the Class 2A East Region playoffs and a first-round victory. After taking the top seed with a 13-12 win over North County, the Hawks (9-4) routed Overlea, 17-8, as Lee scored four goals and assisted on a pair.

Tennis

Andrew Carlson, Arundel

Carlson, the top seed, won the Anne Arundel County boys singles title at the County Championships Friday at Chesapeake High with a 7-5, 6-2 victory in the final over No. 2 seed Ben Rawitt of Severna Park.

Boys lacrosse

Keith Sharp, Arundel

Sharp scored five goals and had an assist as No. 9 Arundel (13-2) eliminated Severna Park (11-4) in the State 4A/3A South Region semifinals Friday. With Sharp leading the way, the Wildcats raced out to a 9-1 advantage and held on to avenge a final regular-season game loss by 9-8 to the Falcons on Tuesday.

Softball

Samantha Miller, Glen Burnie

Coming off a tough 5-4 loss to No. 2-ranked Chesapeake, the No. 4 Gophers (14-4) edged No. 6 Old Mill (12-6), 3-0, to earn their first playoff berth in three years. Miller was the winning pitcher in the crucial victory, throwing a three-hitter with four strikeouts and putting down a squeeze bunt for a run and scoring another.

Girls track

Martise Moore, Old Mill

Moore won two events to pace the Patriots girls to the Anne Arundel County Championship at Annapolis High on Thursday. Moore set a meet record in the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 14.6 seconds and won the 300 intermediate hurdles in 48.7 seconds.

Boys track

Todd Singleton, Old Mill

Singleton was a double winner as the Old Mill boys won a sixth straight Anne Arundel County Championship at Annapolis High Thursday. The Patriots senior won the high jump (6-4) and the triple jump (43 1/2 ).
