TRENTON, N.J. -- Vaughn Eshelman pitched eight shutout innings as the Bowie Baysox defeated the Trenton Thunder, 4-2, yesterday in a Double-A Eastern League game. Eshelman allowed two runs in the ninth, and Joe Borowski entered to save his second game.

Eshelman (4-2) recorded his second victory of the season against the Thunder, which has dropped four of five games to the Baysox.

Bowie, which improved to 8-7 on the road, jumped to a 3-0 lead after Basilio Ortiz hit an RBI single in the fourth inning.

Edgar Alfonzo's single in that inning extended his hitting streak to nine games, tying the longest of the season for the club.
