Salomon aide pleads guilty
A Salomon Bros. party planner pleaded guilty yesterday to stealing more than $1 million earmarked for the securities firm's social functions.
Kathy Tompkins, 38, of Manhattan admitted she submitted 23 bogus vouchers to Salomon totalling $1.1 million for party equipment.
Authorities said Ms. Tompkins, who was paid about $150,000 a year by Salomon and planned social events all over the world, spent the money at Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman on expensive designer clothes and jewelry.
