An article in Sunday's Howard County edition about contamination at the Carrs Mill Landfill incorrectly identified a chemical found in trace amounts in a residential well near the landfill. The chemical, found once at 2 parts per billion, was 1,1,1-trichloroethane, known as TCA. The maximum contaminant level set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for TCA in drinking water is 200 parts per billion.
The Sun regrets the errors.
