Fields picks prep school

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Gilman guard Jimmy Fields, the Greyhounds' all-time leading scorer, announced yesterday that he will attend Bridgton Academy -- a small prep school in North Bridgton, Maine -- for two years before transferring to a four-year college.

"He could have gone other places, but he and his father felt that the other options would still be there when he gets out in two years," Gilman coach Tim Holley said.

In four years at Gilman, Fields played in 108 straight games and scored 1,693 points. Last season, he led the Greyhounds in points per game (22.7) and assists (5.5) and was their second-leading rebounder (5.7).
