Movable feast

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A British landscape firm has designed a portable garden that stands on four-foot square wooden pallets. Twenty-five of them make a typical English suburban garden. The beauty of the thing is that, when you move, you take it with you.

Ah, but the unintended problems: Garden custody battles in divorce, now that the garden need not stay with the house. The search for endless spring, putting the garden on a flatbed and staying with the sun as far south as the road will go. And who does the watering in the years it takes to work out an English inheritance?

It's a brilliant invention, yes. One the world needs, not.
