Pa. woman hurt when car hits runaway van

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A 21-year-old Windsor, Pa., woman suffered neck and back injuries when her Chevrolet Camaro crashed into a unattended van that rolled into her path on Old Hanover Road about 9 a.m. Friday.

Denise L. Ball was taken to the Carroll County General Hospital and released after treatment, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Maryland State Police said Ms. Ball was driving west in the 3600 block of Old Hanover Road when the van rolled from a lot in front of the owner's house into the road. Troopers said Ms. Ball crossed the center line to avoid hitting the van but struck the driver's-side door of the runaway vehicle.

Kenneth L. Burger, the van's owner, told police that he had parked the vehicle and went inside to make a telephone call. He heard the crash while he was on the phone, went outside and saw the accident.
