SINGAPORE -- Disagreement flared yesterday over how much an American, Michael Fay, suffered during a flogging he received as punishment for vandalism, with the Singaporean government denying his family's claims that the youth was "bloodied."

2 Mr. Fay could be released as early as June 21.
