Young man fatally shot in East Baltimore

BALTIMORE -- A 22-year-old northeast city man was shot and killed yesterday evening in East Baltimore, just west of the Johns Hopkins Hospital, police said.

Eastern District police responding to a call of gunshots in the 1200 block of Lindenleaf Court about 5:30 p.m. found the man lying face down alongside a three-story brick apartment building.

The victim, Clarence Brown, of the 900 block of Lenton Ave., police said, was shot several times and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police had made no arrest in the case and knew of no motive for the killing.

Man is killed after car strikes him

BALTIMORE

BALTIMORE -- A resident of a southeast city half-way house was killed yesterday morning when he reportedly stepped into the path of a car in the 3900 block of Hillen Road.

City traffic police said Eugene Nathan Neal, 22, who was recently released from a Veterans Administration Hospital following treatment for drug addiction and who lived in the 200 block of S. Broadway, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the 10:45 a.m. incident.

Police said the man appeared to walk in front of a southbound 1988 Ford Taurus driven by Louis Eugene Hammonds, 43, of the 6000 block of Hamlet Ave.
