A 77-year-old Townsend Avenue resident had her purse snatched Thursday morning as she was walking in front of a check cashing store in the 5000 block of Ritchie Highway, county police said.

The woman told police that a woman in her early 20s came up behind her, snatched her purse from her hand and ran behind the shopping center.
