Sykesville man accused of rape of acquaintance

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A 38-year-old Sykesville man was arrested on rape charges Wednesday after a female acquaintance accused him of attacking her while she slept, police said.

Luther Henry Robinson Jr. of the 1900 block of Gardenia St. was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond on Wednesday.

The victim, a 22-year-old Ellicott City woman, said the man had been visiting her and a friend at a home on Rogers Ave. The man had been invited to sleep overnight Tuesday on a living-room sofa while the woman went to her bedroom.

Around 7 a.m., the woman reported, she awoke to find the man sexually assaulting her. The man left when she screamed, police said.

Mr. Robinson is charged with second-degree rape and assault.
