Westminster man accused of robbing 2 women

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A 30-year-old Westminster man is in the Carroll County Detention Center without bail on charges tied to an assault and robbery involving two women Monday night.

William Evast Robinson of the first block of Carroll St. has been charged with two counts of assault and robbery, and one count each of assault, battery and theft.

Investigators said they received a call to report to the first block of Pennsylvania Ave. about 9:20 p.m. Monday.

When officers arrived, the two women told them that a man whom they knew asked for a ride to Main Street.

The victims, ages 32 and 26, said the man sat in the back seat during the ride. When they reached Pennsylvania Avenue, he grabbed the driver's hair, pulled her head back and struck her in the face with his fist. He then demanded money from the women.

The passenger gave the man $50, and he fled after the women told him that was all the money they had, police said.

The women identified Mr. Robinson as the suspect. He was arrested on West Main Street on Tuesday afternoon.
