Authorities say the arrests of two men yesterday and Tuesday has broken up a major drug distribution network that supplied pounds of cocaine to Anne Arundel and Howard counties.

lead,3.5 The arrests and seizure of several weapons resulted from a six-month investigation that began when Anne Arundel County police arrested several low-level drug dealers. State police and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration helped in the investigation.

Early yesterday, state and Anne Arundel police served a search warrant at a house in the 1500 block of Cherry St. in South Baltimore and seized two assault-style weapons, a Tec-9 and a Cobra Mac-11; four handguns, a Taurus 9mm, a Davis .380, an HK .380 and a Beretta .22; and $17,000 in cash.

The occupant of the house, Shawn T. Bruce, 31, was arrested at a nearby bar, authorities said. He was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine.

Police allege that he had 7 grams of cocaine in his possession when he was arrested.

Mr. Bruce was being held last night at the Baltimore City Detention Center in lieu of $250,000 bail.

About 10 p.m. Tuesday, state police stopped a car on Interstate 95 in Harford County and arrested a man who they said was returning from New York City and allegedly had 2 ounces of cocaine in the car.

Arthur J. Lake, 33, of the 5400 block of Harpers Farm Road, Columbia, was charged with smuggling cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of cocaine, authorities said.

He was being held last night at the Harford County Detention Center in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Authorities said the drug network also operated in Baltimore City.
