Man injured in Route 30 accident

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A 38-year-old Manchester man was seriously injured when the vehicle he was driving ran into a tractor-trailer stopped on Route 30 south of Hampstead about 5:50 a.m. yesterday.

Bruce E. Haines Sr. of the 3300 block of Augusta Road was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. He was listed in serious and stable condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

State police said Mr. Haines was driving north on Hanover Pike in a 1974 Chevrolet pickup truck when his vehicle struck the rear of the truck stopped to make a left turn into the Black & Decker plant.

The truck driver, Kenneth E. Whitmer of Savage, was not injured, police said.
