Fund-raiser canceled

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Westminster officials have canceled plans for a dinner Sunday to raise money for the Robert W. Knight Memorial Fund. Mr. Knight, a city sewage treatment plant operator, died after his van plunged into a Route 31 sinkhole March 31.

Contributions to the memorial fund may be sent to 2119 Coon Club Road, Westminster, 21157.

A silent auction that had been scheduled with the dinner has been postponed to May 7. It will be conducted from noon to 3 p.m. during the annual city flower show.

Recreation director Carol Donovan said organizers canceled the dinner because it appeared that only about 50 people would be able to attend. She said the event was scheduled on too short notice.
