A 40-year-old Annapolis woman was robbed of her purse containing $580 as she headed for work about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Stephanie Stansbury of the first block of Melrob Court told police she was on her way to her job at a nursing home at 1313 West St. when a man came out of the shadows, grabbed her from behind and stole her purse.
