Ravens drop Baysox into first-place tie

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Rod Pedraza pitched seven innings, allowing just one run on six hits and striking out six, as the New Haven Ravens defeated the Bowie Baysox, 5-3, before 3,303 at Yale Stadium last night.

The loss drops the Baysox (7-3) to into a first-place tie with the Harrisburg Senators in the South Division of the Double-A Eastern League.

Baysox starter Vaughn Eshelman (1-1) lasted only five innings. He gave up four runs as he walked six and surrendered five hits. J. D. Noland led the Ravens with two RBIs.

Hector Vargas went 3-for-4 with one RBI for Bowie.
