Sophomore Buddy Hoffman scored four goals and Wes Depp added three as No. 15 Massachusetts (6-3) edged No. 19 Harvard (3-5), 18-17, in a men's lacrosse game yesterday in Amherst, Mass. It was the Minutemen's fourth straight home victory.

Massachusetts, which never trailed after 3:48 into the game, could not gain a lead of more than two goals until the fourth quarter.

* Brown 15, New Hampshire 6: Senior Jeff Iserson scored a career-high four goals to lead No. 8 Brown (7-4) over New Hampshire (3-6) in Providence, R.I. It was the Bears' sixth consecutive victory, which is the second longest active win streak in Division I.

* Delaware 16, Bucknell 9: The 13th-ranked Blue Hens (7-3) reversed a one-goal halftime deficit by scoring 12 goals in the second half to defeat the Bison (3-4) in Lewisburg, Pa.

* Lehigh 11, Mount St. Mary's 9: Freshman Dominic Souza scored three goals -- two in the fourth quarter -- to lead visiting Lehigh (8-3) over Mount St. Mary's (2-8) in Emmitsburg.

The Engineers led, 7-6, entering the final quarter and extended the lead to 9-6 on goals by Jeffrey Jenkins and Souza. For Jenkins, it was his third goal of the game to go with two assists.

Nick Pilla scored the second of his three goals to pull Mount St. Mary's within 9-7 with 6:27 left, but Souza took a feed from Michael Leonard on a break and iced the game with 5:00 left.

* Haverford 24, Goucher 8: Senior attackman Devon Evans had five goals and five assists as Haverford (4-7) topped host Goucher (4-9). The Fords outshot the Gophers 58-35.

Women

* UMBC 15, Shippensburg 10: Junior attack Alison Zaetz (Old Mill) tied a single-game school record with nine goals, including six in the first half, as UMBC (8-4) defeated host Shippensburg (2-5).

Leading 3-2, the Retrievers scored six straight, four from Zaetz, to end the first half with a 9-2 lead. After Shippensburg closed to within 11-5, UMBC scored four of the next five for a 15-6 advantage.
