SPARTANBURG, S.C.-- The Hagerstown Suns gave up three home runs and fell to the Spartanburg Phillies, 7-6, last night in a South Atlantic League game, ending a three-game winning streak.
The Suns, who trailed 7-2, mounted a comeback and pulled within a run in the ninth inning when Adam Melhuse drove in two runs with a single.
But with the tying run at third and the potential go-ahead run at second, the Suns' Lornzo de La Cruz grounded out to end the game.
Suns starter Trevor Mallory (0-2) went six innings, giving up six runs on seven hits to take the loss.
