THE BALTIMORE SUN

Senior Erin Wylde scored three goals and assisted on two others, and No. 1 Severna Park pulled away in the second half for an 11-5 victory over No. 8 Broadneck in Cape St. Claire.

Colleen Gately added two goals and one assist for the Falcons (4-0), winners of the past four 3A-4A state championships. Kathy McCafferty scored twice.

Broadneck (2-3) received two goals each from Susannah Johnson and Liz Goodrich.

The game was tied at 3 after Johnson's first goal, off a pass from Alicia Nagowski, but Jennie Voishan put Severna Park ahead for good at 23:14. Goodrich's second goal reduced the lead to 7-5 at 11:27 of the second half, before Severna Park ran off the last four.

"They're doing very well," said coach Carin Peterson, whose Falcons took 38 shots. "Any time you can hold teams like Broadneck, St. Mary's and South River to five goals or less, you're doing a good job."

Severna Park has outscored its opponents, 54-15.
