FREDERICK -- The Bowie Baysox scored all their runs in the first four innings of each game as they swept the Trenton Thunder, 4-2 and 3-2, in an Eastern League doubleheader last night.
In the first game, Edgar Alfonso hit a three-run homer in the first inning and Brent Miller added a two-out RBI double in the third to give the Baysox a 4-0 lead. After the Thunder pulled to within 4-2 in the sixth, Baysox closer Armando Benitez shut them down to (( record the save.
Bo Ortiz's bases-empty homer in the second inning and a two-run double by Cesar Devarez in the fourth put Bowie ahead 3-0 in the second game. After Brian DuBose's two-run homer in the seventh to get the Thunder to within 3-2, Benitez relieved Rick Forney to get the final two outs for his third save.
