Hitchhiker robs county man of $11

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A 26-year-old county man was robbed by a hitchhiker yesterday morning, county police said.

A man flagged down Duane M. Nowakowski, who lives on Kenwood Road, about 1:30 a.m. Monday. Mr. Nowakowski drove the man to Ruth Street at Audrey Avenue, near the county line. The man then took Mr. Nowakowski's keys from the ignition and told Mr. Nowakowski that he would get the keys back only if he handed over some money, police said. Mr. Nowakowski gave the man $11.

The robber left the car, walking in the direction of Audrey Avenue, police said. He was described as a white male, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds. He was wearing a green jacket and faded blue jeans and may have had a mustache, police said.
