The state Board of Public Works has approved three contracts worth a total of $8.5 million for renovations at Baltimore-Washington International Airport.
The contracts are the first awarded as part of a $16.3 million package of terminal improvements.
Robert A. Kinsley Inc. of Timonium won a $5.34 million contract to build an observation lounge between Piers B and C on the terminal's upper level.
The Board of Public Works awarded a $2.48 million contract to Jack H. Kidd Associates of Baltimore for renovations to the terminal's floors.
McDonnell Landscape Inc. of Derwood, Montgomery County, won a $679,000 contract for landscaping.
