Bosnian fund-raiser to offer dinner, discussion by refugees

THE BALTIMORE SUN

An evening of food and culture from Bosnia-Herzegovina will take place at Western Maryland College tonight as a fund-raiser for the relief effort for that region.

The event, which is open to the public, begins at 6 p.m. in the Decker College Center Dining Porch. It is supported by the college's department of political science and the honors program.

The evening's main speaker will be Sven Alkalaj, a representative of Bosnia's embassy in the United States. He will be joined by others who have been involved in the humanitarian aid effort and Bosnian citizens who recently left Sarajevo.

Money raised by the event will benefit the New England Bosnia Relief Committee, which supports humanitarian and educational projects in Bosnia and the region.

The cost of the dinner and discussion is $6 for the general public, $3 for students.
